The fans of VfL Osnabrück launched an impressive solidarity campaign at the match against SC Paderborn on 27 January and raised € 2007 for Diversero’s ‘Sports Free’ campaign. The donation was made from the proceeds of the reusable cup deposit, which was generously donated by visitors to the match.
‘This campaign shows how strong the community is behind supporting queer athletes in professional sports,’ said Marcus Urban, co-founder of Diversero. ‘The willingness of fans to donate their deposit cups to a good cause is a strong sign of the change we want to see in sport.’
The deposit donation is another important contribution to the ‘Sports Free’ campaign, which campaigns for the rights and visibility of queer athletes in professional sport. VfL Osnabrück has once again proven that it not only plays an exemplary role on the pitch, but also in social issues.
This initiative not only raises awareness of diversity and inclusion in sport, but also shows how fans and clubs can work together to make a real difference. With the donation of 2007 euros, VfL Osnabrück is making a significant contribution to the continuation of the ‘Sports Free’ campaign and sending a powerful signal for solidarity and cohesion in professional football.
